I'm an experienced editor and copy editor, and I love this work!

I’ve worked for a wide range of clients on projects ranging from annual reports, newsletters and marketing brochures, to complete website rewrites and copy-editing your existing site.

I particularly enjoy working with authors – of both novels and non-fiction or academic books – to get your copy into shape. I’ll start with a wide-angle view of your book, to make sure the content is well-structured and there are no missing elements. Then I work with you to get the copy as tight as possible – whether it’s a close proofread of your final draft, or checking references and bibliography.

Academic

I’ve worked as a freelance copy editor on a number of Routledge academic titles, on subjects ranging from politics and economics to religion and philosophy. I really enjoy getting to grips with complex subject areas and detailed fact-checking.

I also proof and copy-edit Masters and PhD theses for students in a range of disciplines, including psychology, theology and economics.

Book editing

I love working with fiction and non-fiction authors to get your book ready for publication. I'm a fast and accurate copy editor and I'll research effectively to get your references and quotes watertight. 

I worked as researcher and copy editor for Mary O’Hara, the award-winning writer and journalist, for her books Austerity Bites – which was Owen Jones's Book of the Year in the Guardian Review of Books 2014 – and The Shame Game.

I’ve used lots of different content management systems, as well as Wordpress, so can upload copy straight to your site for you.

Project editing

As an editor, I commission copy, illustrations and photography; manage the design, production and preparation of your project; and… anything else that's needed to get your copy into print or online.

Proofreading

I’m a quick and accurate proofreader, and can proof on hard copy, markup in Adobe Acrobat or InDesign, or track changes in your Word documents.

I work with you to make sure your copy is as accurate as possible.

Design & Layout

I’m a whiz at InDesign layout and can design your publication for you while I’m editing the copy.

I use Photoshop & Illustrator to work with graphics and photos.
