I work with fiction authors to provide accurate background research for your chosen era or setting; and with non-fiction authors to provide detailed research on your chosen topic or sector. My research means that you can focus on your writing while I ensure that you have the background information you need.
I am currently working on my own MA; in addition I have a lot of experience in providing copyediting and research support to students completing their MA and PhD theses – in topics ranging from psychology to engineering, physics, history and literature.
“I first worked with Alexis in my mid-20s when we both ran departments at The Guardian and I was in utter awe at her skills as a writer and editor. The fact that she agreed to help research and sub-edit this book was my very great good fortune.
“There is no one who could have done a better job at knocking me and the copy into shape or who could have helped with everything from tidying grammar to shoring me up when the process became daunting – which it frequently did.”
Author, Austerity Bites
I worked as researcher and copy editor for Mary O’Hara, the award-winning writer and journalist, for her book Austerity Bites, which was Owen Jones's Book of the Year in the Guardian Review of Books 2014.
The book was published in hardback 2014 and is now available in paperback from Amazon here.
I provide business plans and focused market research for companies looking either to focus on a new direction or to gain funding. I have enabled many businesses to get off the ground through focusing on their strengths and unique selling points in their marketplace.
My work with businesses frequently involves detailed competitor analysis as well as rigorous questioning of all aspects of the proposed business to establish its viability.
This includes a detailed analysis of the sector as well as future trends and constraints.
